B. Braun Lanka Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with the College of Anesthesiologists in Sri Lanka, held its latest training programme on Acute Dialysis, through a ‘live’ broadcast on Google Hangout for the first time.
The virtual event heralded a new era of online training in Sri Lanka, with the aim of making expertise and knowledge more accessible to consultants and nurses who are unable to attend the training in person. Using Google Hangout, the sessions by trainer, Dr Michele Susca were broadcast via a YouTube channel, allowing doctors and nurses in remote areas to watch the training in real time.
The programme has since been broadcast to over 100 doctors and nurses across the island nation. Each online training session lasted one to two hours, and garnered over a 1000 views on YouTube. This Aesculap Academy-endorsed training programme focused on the theory of acute kidney injury, Plasmapherisis, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), and a demonstration on the Diapact CRRT machine.
