B. Braun Philippines launches donation campaign for Nepal
Monetary contributions to help earthquake victims.
On April 25, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake devastated the country of Nepal--an earthquake so powerful, it had been felt in neighboring countries like India, China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. More than 8,000 citizens all over Nepal and other South Asian countries have lost their lives to this tragedy, and the number is expected to rise as the weeks and months progress. Only a little over two weeks after this unfortunate episode, on May 12, another 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck the country, further hindering aid efforts.
In the wake of the incidents, millions of people have been displaced and thousands were left injured. Significant Nepalese cultural symbols, including UNESCO World Heritage sites, have been driven down to the ground.
Joining worldwide efforts to help rebuild the country, B. Braun Philippines employees have added to the cause by financial assistance through direct bank deposit and salary deduction. The total amount will be pooled together with contributions from B. Braun offices across the globe, and will be matched, euro for euro, by the BMI Board in Melsungen, Germany. The monetary donation will be sent to the Nepal Red Cross Society, which has already mobilized volunteers on the ground and delivered crucial relief goods such as hygiene kits and tents, and set up mobile clinics for the infirm. In addition, it has also recently organized an Earthquake Planning Meeting together with the Nepalese government and other local and international organizations.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to B. Braun employees here and abroad for being in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who have been affected by the calamity.
